Trip to Sweden and Norway - Day 7
(or
as Elias calls it, the “number 3 of August”)
Brunch
in the morning – The brunch at the Grand Hotel was incredible –
Herring, sour
milk, soft boiled eggs, granola, fruit, crepes, everything English,
European,
all rolled into a huge meal. We ate and ate and ate.
After
packing up and storing our bags, we went wandering and shopping once
the stores
opened. We were on a mission to find good deals on Kosta Boda and other
crystal. There was a lot of it – overwhelmingly so. We didn’t buy any
crystal,
but did wind up with some cool Allessi products.
The
train ride back to Karlstad was
uneventful, at least it didn’t break down like every other train the
folks were
on. We were worried about facing “backwards” on the train, but all
survived
with only slightly queasy stomaches. The one bummer of the trip was on
the ride
back we discovered that mom lost her wallet back in Stockholm. Well we
don’t know if it was lost or stolen. We’re still dealing with cutting
everything off and hoping someone returns it.
Karlstad – Its good to
be back at “home”. We take advantage of the Sauna and end up quietly
winding
down. The trip to Stockholm was great,
but after 3 days of walking it was good to be a little quieter.
